So. I have had huge bottles of this stuff in my home for years now, this exact one: “Soothing aloe”. Those huge bottles have always been very, very, mercifully light on scent. So light that it’s not noticeable. That’s one of the biggest reasons why I loved this soap. THEN I started to run low and I ordered these refills of the same brand, same name; “Soothing aloe”. You know what I got? Multiple bottles of what I can only describe as the most awful, heavily perfumed soap that you could possibly imagine. The packaging is the same. The label is the same. The name is the same. But the soap smells like a huge gallon of 60 year old perfume was dumped into it. The only reason I know I’m not losing my mind is that I still have one of my older huge bottles of soothing aloe softsoap on hand, and I smelled it again just to compare. The difference is night and day. The new soap stench doesn’t even smell anything like the light scent in the other container. Just why? What’s worse.. the stench doesn’t fade away. I wake up in the morning and the smell is just as strong as when I went to bed the night before. For me, strong scents trigger headaches and migraines nowadays, so I’m looking at having to try and figure out how I’m going to dumb this nightmare soap down with something unscented, so it’s at least somehow tolerable until I finally use it all up. There’s just no way that I can use it as is, I smell it all day, all night, it never goes away. I’m probably going to have to switch brands once it’s time to re order soap again, which is sad. Who thought this change was a good idea??
